Hi there, it is Tom, Keen's daddy.

Since Zenimax won't consider talking about letting go of the Keen IP, it was time to do something. Life is short, I want to make a fun sci-fi platformer.

So here's my Kickstarter for a spiritual successor to Keen, PLUS a platform game creator so all you folks that have been making AWESOME mods all these years can have some super-powerful tools to make these games a lot easier.

I hope you'll all join me, support, and grow this community. You've all shown Keen such love, this was the best way I knew forward. :)

I'm determined to make this happen. Hope you like it! I see the link atop the Forum. So awesome, all of you. Your love for Keen inspired this. That really touched me. A big thanks to all of you.

I'm really sorry...BUT I have to ask this....

How do we know you are the real Tom Hall?

I haven't seen anything to really prove that its really you. Anyone could've put tomtomtom.com as their homepage or said they're Keen's daddy (as awesome as that is). Also saying that Zenimax won't give up the rights is pretty much common knowledge and knowing the location of where Tom Hall lives would only take a quick facebook search.

I have to ask before anyone gets their hopes up that we've being actually visited by the creator of our fandom.

Well few enough people would have the motive to fake a letter like that to the community.

And besides, if I were trying to squeeze a six figure sum out of the internet I would probably pitch the idea in person to one of the most receptive audiences for the plea for funds.

So I would not hold such suspicions!!

This isn't the first time I've seen someone pose as Tom Hall. It might just be an impassioned Keener trying to help Tom Hall out, by making the fans think he spoke to us so they'll be more likely to buy his product.

I'm not saying that the product in itself is bad. It looks awesome. And a bottom price of $25 is a good deal in my opinion. But I just think we need to consider that possibility so we don't get our hopes up and I don't see the harm with being skeptical, considering how easy this setup would be.

Oh wow....thank you!

I am so happy to finally be able to say this.....Welcome to the boards Tom Hall! :D

So I have a question about your game, Secret Spaceship Club. And I'm probably reading too much into your words on the kickstarter, but is Secret Spaceship Club supposed to be, unofficially, in the Keen Universe?

Thanks

Ouch! I'm sure you'll sleep well tonight then, haha. And thanks for answering my question!

By the way, would there be any way you could shed light on the whole reason why Zenimax won't give up the rights? (if you know the reason that is). Like for instance, was it a money issue? Many thanks in advance.

Oh my goodness...

Welcome aboard, Tom Hall. It's amazing to see you here. Help yourself to the fridge if you want anything.

I'm likewise curious about the issues with Zenimax. Have they given thorough reasons for refusing, or just been unresponsive?

I also have of course all sorts of questions about where TUIT was supposed to go back in the day, though I recall one of our members (I want to say Paramultart) had learned that there had been some actual completed material, and that it's gone missing.

Anyway this platform game creation software sounds like an awesome idea. Platform gaming such as Keen is a lost art and I'm always game to help in keeping it alive. :)
