Mercury mines

Post by DoomJedi »

Did anyone try to make a mod about Commander Keen in "Mercury Mines" - so we can find out what happened to him with his fight with Dr. Proton? Could be a cool project.

Levellass should do it, she had an awesome idea of how the whole thing played out.

Yeah, a but a coperative Keen-Mort mod (Where Keen is destined to fail?)

Interesting idea, but would it work?

I think it's a great idea. With very interested concept.
There is a legendary story to be told here....and maybe we'll let the player decide his fate...when there is a price to a decision...we know what Keen chose...
Now we need a world map of Mercury.

Actually, the Mercury Mines were somewhere in L.A. It was a level in Duke Nukem 1.

Absolutely, but Commander Keen in "Mercury Mines" inspired me to change the Keen 10 story line. (There'll be Keen 10, but no Keen 11 and 12.)

What? L.A.? This is not Keenish...it gotta be on some other planet...Why not Mercury?

Because AFAIK mercury mines have nothing to do with the planet Mercury... :p

Sounded cooler when I thought they were on Mercury...:( :( :( much good metals to mine there, though it's very hot and hostile...good place to for Keen to die...if there is a good place to die......
I'm almost sure referring "Mercury mines" (with such interstellar name) to Keen was an intended pun....can't we just flow with it? :)

Aaah, but you see the mercury mines in Duke had actual mercury in them that reflected the player's image. And awesome backgrounds and neat enemies.

If anyone's still interested after Keen day we could collaborate in an adaption of it.

Excellent, write it down 'cause I'll likely forget. Also, what Keen game would it mod?

Me too... Before we choose which one - we probably need to invent enemies and than to see which game's enemy movement fits best, to minimize the patchwork.
Are there other big differences between the engines?
In general Keen 4 has clear preference.

Your lack of interplanetary geological knowledge disappoints me. Mercury's rotation is incredibly, incredibly slow, which means one side of the planet is cold for extended periods of time.

Either that or I'm wrong and I owe you an apology.
