Most strange things in unofficial Commaner Keen Games

Post by SupFanat »

I think the most strange enemy is Proto Bleech which remains deadly even if it's killed.

Do you know even more strange things?

The shmee shmays were originally penises.

In fact the Shelley is shattered when it dies and the fragments are deadly but these fragments don't remain forever.

(Shelley from original Commaner Keen 5 has also pretty weird behavior - it commits suicide and tries to kill Commander Keen. Thus it's even extended suicide. The suicide can be used to kill this enemy without using ammo. Nospike from Keen 6 can also be made to commit suicide - it could be used to kill it using only one shot or even zero. But the suicide of Nospike is AFAIR harmless for Keen - the falling Nospike is no longer dangerous.)

It's a good thing the poison slugs in K4 don't release their bowels when knocked out.

I can't think of any other enemies that remain dangerous after immobilisation.

Blue Birds hatch fully formed from their eggs, no chicks at all. Also, how do they LAY such large eggs? Are they like the kiwi?

They lay smaller eggs and these eggs are capable of external growth. I don't know which nutrients they use, though.

Ask the Doctor Who scriptwriters behind the "the moon is an egg" garg.

I don't think procreating more nasties is quite what was meant though. There's some interesting pathways for modders interested in making hazard-post-death monsters - if, say, you stunned a spike-covered robot and that made it blow up, the spikes could fly around and become hazards once they land, meaning every time you play there's a slightly reconfigured obstacle to overcome. That's probably quite difficult to patch in though.

The existence of NetKeen proves that even difficult patches are doable.

There's a difference between unofficial Commaner Keen Games and unofficial Commander Keen Mods. From the galaxy mods, the most strange enemy I can think of is BugBug:

The most strange thing, however, is also something different that can vary from the most strange level to the most strange graphics/tileset/story etc.

There is no scientific bacon science to support these claims, you religious nutbag.

Pffft, bacon. Typical western perspective. True science needs to take note of the ham within all beings.

Not that difficult depending on the Keen.

What are those fish things on Vorticon? Cactuses with eyes? Fish on land? What?

Do they flower, or spawn?
