Working on TUIT epic battle game

I'm making a little game in Game Maker 7.0 that should replicate the feel of the final Keen/Mort battle. It's two-player, currently. Read more here. :mort

Anybody else use GM7? :)

Cool idea :) I suggest giving Keen an ability Mort doesnt have, since Mort has superior fire-power. The pogo stick for jumping higher is an obvious difference, but maybe there something else Keen can do.

I haven't played it yet, so I don't know if both of them can duck, but if they can't duck yet, then maybe Keen could while Mort couldn't, as another idea for Keen abilities.

Commander Keen has the power to reload to the last save point whenever he dies. And he can save whenever he wants. Also, Keen's best combo: G + F10

Ha. Imagine if enemies in games could reload *their* games. Every time you shoot one, you suddenly warp backwards several seconds.

I use Sphere and Python. Anything to have games work over several different platforms!

Your idea sounds nice. I just hope it will run in Wine when it gets released.

Probably not... I've had trouble getting any GM games working in Wine.
I couldn't even get them working in an XP VirtualBox, though, so it might just be me. :p

It's done!!

There are four versions to choose from (in seperate EXEs).
tuit.exe = Person (Mort) vs. Person (Keen)
tuit_k.exe = Computer (Mort) vs. Person (Keen)
tuit_m.exe = Person (Mort) vs. Computer (Keen)
tuit_w.exe = Computer (Mort) vs. Computer (Keen) <-- my favorite :p

The computer has a strange habit of walking backwards, don't know...

Very nice!
The firework effect for Mort's gun, though spectacular, could afford to be smaller.
Could you use the actual ducking sprite for Keen's ducking? Again with ducking, I ended up stuck partially inside a block after I ducked.
I like how the terrain fades with Mort's shots.
I know that Game Maker AI is a pain, but a) having Mort match my every move as we fall on top of each other is somewhat unnerving, and b) Mort often gets stuck in a jerky "trying to jump but hitting a block" sequence. Could those be fixed?

I didn't even think about that! You could just have different cratered sprites depending on the side hit for the block object, and when it's destroyed it could crumble into a handful of gray special effects.

OK, becuase it could be hit once from right, then left, I didn't think it would look to good to have the crater transfer sides. But, now the block get a hole through it when shot. I tried to fix the physics, but I really don't know how. :( Same link as before.

Also, the physics are best in the main feature, Person vs. Person. :disguised

I tried a while till I figured out how to shoot. It's a lot too easy to toast the universe. Mort's gun should have a much longer loading time than keen's. And both should have a longer loading time anyway.
