Abandonded patch
Abandonded patch
I have abandonded my efforts to produce a Keen 5 twoplayer patch due to it being time consuming and having some annoying bugs I can't iron out. These are:
* Bullets, keys, etc are shared between Keens
* Bullets can't kill enemy Keens without also killing shooting Keen
* No way to tell Keens apart
I managed to get them using different keys (In Keen 2's case the numbers keys when numlock is on, but this is editable.) and to end a level when both Keens are dead (Or win it when one exits.) but it's rather too limited to be useful don't you think? Here's a screenie and a link to the patches if anyone wants to try and work them out:

EDIT: Blast! Wrong forum! How do I move topics?

What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.

That sounds like Keenish wisdom...
This is really cool, too bad there are all those problems... Maybe something else could be made of this, something simpler -- such as some sort of two-player game where the characters wouldn't be Keen, but some characters with more limited movement (like, no shooting or jumping). I'm imagining something Pac-Man-like. Who knows...

Keen: Survival Of The Geniusest Hey, that could work -- different, small one-screen levels, each having different invincible [most of them now, since you can't harm them] enemies moving around. For example a room with solid ground, three sparkys running on it, the floor rising slightly in the center, there a spindred, and a spirogrip flying around the room. I could work on this!

*cough* viewtopic.php?t=1007 (even if it's self-co-operation )
Yes, a deathmatch might be more interesting. But I just invented some nice ideas for this kind of SOTG. I think I'm going to make a few levels today (edit: in a few days). (It will be, for all I can see at the moment, only a level pack with some patching.)
