I agree that the sign does not mean the dopefish lives where it does - Sea Shepard graffiti does not mean there are any whales nearby - but the question as to whether the fish is an extremophile is an interesting one.

Thanks for posting the screen joe-ilya, it was relevant and I, as someone who does not play many FPS games, appreciated seeing it.

I always took the sign as sarcastic; along the lines of 'Dopefish lives because YOU just did something so inept and stupid that you and your family must be them.'

Also, let's keep the brony low key here. FiM already destroyed a number of forums I rather enjoyed.

Oh no; I used to frequent a few MLP communities back before FiM; we were mostly a bunch of olderish women who had gown up on, or around the 1980s cartoon. We did stuff like make custom ponies and share videos of our kids. (Not mine, I had none at the time.) and make up stupid stories. Safe in the knowledge that we were safe from general internet insanity due to the fact that nobody cared.

Then one day we started getting massive numbers of new signups, mostly from 4chan posting porn, the usual shock stuff 'for the lulz'. There were deletions and bans on new accounts and suchlike. We paused for a bit confident that they would soon loose interest, and they did.

Then a few weeks after that the bronies started to pour in. There were a lot of them, compared to us, they were loud and had a thing for sex. As fans of inferior material we were constantly insulted and mocked. G1 episodes were for little girls, they had no plot, the characters were flat and BTW, who would you sleep with? We were simply pushed aside, it took a few months but there was nothing any of us could do, there was so much interest, so much drama. In the end everything was just left to rot or was shut down. Now it's impossible to even google the names of said hangouts, they are buried under fanfic titles.

I imagine this is how the old fans of Transformers feel with the new movies coming out. We have been washed away.

I doubt it was much out of the ordinary. But they outnumbered us. It wasn't a campaign of eradication, it was just sheer numbers pushing us out. I don't know if any pure G1-G3 spaces remain.

Zynga buys the rights to Keen. It is relaunched as a Facebook game and garners a huge following among teenage girls. Thousands flock here interested in posting Keen\Mort fiction. Hall, Romero, are of no account. The old games and TUIT are seen as laughably flawed, though obviously inspirational. Their plots were basic and stupid, the characters racist, sexist and ageist. None of the new arrivals mod, they spend their time drawing fanart and arguing over whether the Bloogs are still canon. What becomes of us then?

There were a lot of memes. I still don't understand most of them. (The hey is a waifu?) Isn't the sonichu guy dead?

Do you mean the character, or the author? The author stopped drawing the comic and turned trans, so she's not a 'guy' anymore and the books are still where they were at back in 2010, except for a few special drawings that were made mostly to rant at sega and to sell to commissioners. Oh, and she watches MLP:FiM now. She's a huge fan
