I am wondering if one of those keens in the doom 2 Grosse level is really Keen. I think they might be keen clones and not the real Keen. What is the official story?

I just assumed it was a non-cannon Keen reference. Perhaps the Doom 2 Keens were just meat piñatas.... I'll probably now use that term whenever possible now.

I agree with that guynietoren.
It's no more Keen than the Dopefish on the wall in Quake is the Dopefish.

Also weren't there multiple Keens in that level? They can't all be canon Keen. And probably none of them were.

Not to mention they didn't even bother updating Keen's look for the Doom palette... So it's 4 EGA Keen's hanging by the neck, with VGA innards.
It's just a joke. A really, really dark joke.

Bishop from Aliens had blood and guts, but they were creamy and beige.
Like a robot filled with Bailey's. Delicious.

Duplicates from time travel. I'm sure the next sequel trilogy "The Multiverse is History!" will explain this.

The Nazis attempted to clone B.J. using samples of his blood. The clones initially took on his form, but as they grew their genetic material deteriorated to the point that, by the age of 8, they had degraded to pixellated 16-color monstrosities. The clones, who wore uniforms uncannily and coincidentally resembling that of Commander Keen, were hanged as punishment, and left in a back room to be preserved for future study. After the Doom marine killed them, their ghosts went back in time and appeared in a secret area of Castle Wolfenstein to haunt the man they were cloned from.
I'm pretty sure that's the canon id version of the story.
