Would it be possible to build a ship out of household items?

This is where you can post your Commander Keen related stories, artwork, or other stuff that is related to Commander Keen but otherwise doesn't belong in another forum.

whoa, thats pretty cool. but theres a hell of a technological leap between a remote controlled vehicle, or submarine, and a spaceship that freely traverses outer space.

once again, reality just can't keep up with our awesome imagination.

All you need is something that can hold enough pressurised fuel to break from the atmosphere and can stay upright after launch. In all honesty, if you don't plan to launch anything heavy, it probably could be done. Most spaceships are just boxes attached to a tank oxygen and a tank of hydrogen anyway.

...oh, and some rather advanced release controls and cladding and whatever.

I note that this teenager built a WORKING FUSION REACTOR but can't compete in the science fair because of a small technicality: http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/ ... g_tee.html

Getting up is the easy part. To quote Tom lehrer 'Once ze rockets go up, who cares where zey come down? Zat's not my department.' (Says Wernher von Braun!)

Your puny imagination is about to get schooled: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/mantis_shrimp

I can bring up other ways reality is endlessly awesome. There are so many.

Yup. I wouldn't be surprised (completely anyway) if there was some microscopic or deep sea creature that looked like a yorp. Just too much out there to rule it out.
