This time it happened in Keen 5 as well, but whatever I do right, the problem is the same. Keen doesn't read book. Instead of that he "jumps", then stands again.
That's definitely a hitbox bug, where the reading sprite's hitbox is changed so Keen falls to match the new hitbox, which in turn makes him use the jumping/falling sprite which has the functional hitbox, therefore cancelling the jump.
From what I've read in the original thread it seems to be a Keengraph bug. Try to pester Levellass a bit, with just a bit of luck she'll do some research and possibly have results.

Maybe sometime, because I have a brilliant idea for Keen 10.
It's an annoying bug relating to sprites with tiny differences in hitboxes in odd circumstances.
This can be fixed by greying out all the hitboxes for the book reading and copying the hitbox numbers in LIST.TXT to those entries. In other words a 2 minute tops fix if'n you know what you're doing.
Right! So! Um! Instead of expanding the bitmap to 32 pixel height, I grayed out the hitboxes instead. Here's another video tutorial. I tried to be faster this time <_< (But I'm still slow due to scatterbrainedness.) Video quality isn't good--I hope that won't be an issue. My laptop here is older than uTUIT.
