This isn't exactly a misconceptions thing but I didn't think it warranted its own thread (mods can fix that if I'm wrong, I guess.) What do/did you guys imagine Keen and Mort's (and possibly others') voices to sound like?
I always imagined Keen to have a fairly mature-sounding, if not adult, voice, while I hear Mort speaking in an obnoxious, sniveling nasally kind of voice instead. And I think I pictured Lindsey sounding vaguely like Whoopi Goldberg for some reason. Sometimes I'd imagine the Bloogs sounding loud and grating, and the Shikadi speaking in a weird mid-pitched harmonic. Koraths, of course, sound like Scotsmen.

What do you mean imagine? We hear Keen speaking! Clearly an electronic voice box - we hear it when he says no swimming without a wetsuit in K4 Same goes for the rest of his robotic family singing in You've Got to eat you Vegetables (/whatever the correct title is).
I think Keen is possibly intended to sound exactly like Tom Hall when he was a kid.
Given the choice of those two I'd put them the other way around. Well, not so obnoxious for Keen, but yeah. He certainly seems more kiddish than Mort.StupidBunny wrote:I always imagined Keen to have a fairly mature-sounding, if not adult, voice, while I hear Mort speaking in an obnoxious, sniveling nasally kind of voice instead.

I've always imagined Keen's voice as a pretty high pitched one, suitable for non-vulgar child curses. Might be because the first line I've read was "Aw nuts!" and I guess it stuck. Also because of the PC speaker version of the I can't swim sound. Always loved the PC speaker sound effects, especially in Dreams.
Mort on the other hand I imagined as a typical bully - always sounds like he's being sarcastic with you, which he actually often is, too. Definitely a deeper voice than Keen's and I think he'd draw out some words a lot, example: "Commander Clooown!"

I can't imagine Mortimer McMire speaking without screaming every fifth sentence or so---or screaming any time someone decides to interrupt him, and throwing around curses (either English or alien) whenever Keen foils his plans for the umpteenth time.
As for Keen, I agree that he uses mild, non-offensive curses ("Aw, nuts", "dangit!", "Oh, crud", etc.), but I also imagine him using a lot of technical terms (not unlike the Third Doctor).

What's the point of growing up if you can't be a little childish sometimes?
I imagine Keen would have a higher pitched voice than Mort, with Mort having a slightly deeper serious voice. Especially with Mort getting angry at everything and Keen having childish dreams of being a galactic hero (Not saying they aren't real of course)

No offense, but you made both of them sound a bit like northern Europeans reading from a script. Funny and unnatural.Paramultart wrote:Here's my interpretation of what they sound like:
