Well, in my opinion the Vorticons look like wolves, but on keenwiki i've read they look like a puppy. Now do they really look like a puppy? Or much more like a wolf? Tell me.

I've always thought they looked like dogs, but this whole topic is like 100% subjective.

I thought they looked a bit like kangaroos at first (complete with REALLY HIGH JUMPS), but I'll agree with others that they are also a bit canine and (duh) humanoid. They are also evocative of greek gods (edit: EGYPTIAN! dangit, my brain is fried) like Anubis and Set and that blue appearance means Lucario is definitely a Keen reference shoehorned into pokemon (I think number 314 is either volbeat or illumise, by the way). In the end they are aliens, so everything we compare them to is stuff from earth that isn't really what they are. We're just trying to find simplifications and shortcuts to comprehend them a bit better, but for all we know vorticons could be cold-blooded invertibrates with blue scales, not fur.

I think they were probably intended to look like cyan dogs, but it's all subjective really...

Well, even though they do look doglike, their cranial structure suggests that they're mustelids--much more closely related to weasels than to dogs.

If you look closely at the position of the canines and the height of the orbit then you'll know what I'm talking about. No recent common ancestor with canines here.
