I need the account in order to add some details to the existing articles or to fix some minor errors (if I find any).

Well that depends; your basic account, that's a simple matter of filling in the right forms in triplicate. (Pink flimsy goes to file, yellow flimsy you keep, main document goes to Malv.)

A silver account that lets you revert lower level edits requires at least six months of participation or 400 edits (Or 100 major edits). A gold account that allows you to delete\rename existing articles and lock articles against editing requires at least a year's participation, 1K edits (500 major edits) or a $50 donation to the Wikimedia foundation.
