My first pumpkin carving ever!

I started by copying a sketch onto the side of a pumpkin (in ballpoint pen), and then carving away!

Here you can see the two parts of it - the curvature of the pumpkin makes it tricky to show the whole carving properly in a photograph!

Lights off!

Both parts, again. OOOOH.... AAAHHH...

Wait... are parts of it just thinned out (not carved all the way through) so that it creates a darker color? That's cool... I never would have thought to do something like that.

I looked at some examples of pumpkin carvings online and saw that the really awesome ones had several shades of orange as well as the regular yellow and black, so I figured that's how they'd achieved it - varying depths of thinning the shell. I could only manage "thin" and "not very thin"... so I guess those two colours plus black (shell) and white (holes) mean that this Keen is CGA!

Some trick-or-treaters earlier asked if I had anything against snails and I said "nope, but that's a slug". :3

That's great. I agree with other people who mentioned it, I like the effect of using thinned parts to make a darker orange.
