New look?
DSL, while it might be neat to have keen creatures for icons, most of those aren't very intuitive as to whats hot/new/not new.
Galaxieretter, thats a Blorb (keen 6) [Edit: and genius314 beat me to it ]. It never really made sense to me why it marked sticky topics, since blorbs are bouncy, not sticky... But it is a classic icon so I support bringing it back too, along with the berkeloid, ice keen, and I too like StupidBunny's key gem idea.

I forgot that the blorbs were the sticky topic icons.Ceilick wrote:DSL, while it might be neat to have keen creatures for icons, most of those aren't very intuitive as to whats hot/new/not new.

I like SB's idea alot as well. It's pretty cool.
Maybe we could have an oracle member for sticky topics; praying if there are new/unread messages, just standing there if there are no new/unread messages.

I can also support the gemholder/gem system for new/no new because it's simple, intuitive and small enough not to stretch anything.
You guys might wanna take a look at the german Keen forum, to see what they have done design-wise, so we don't "copy" anything unwillingly

By the way, Deltamatic, I wouldn't use the term "iconography" for computer icons, as it belongs to art history (for things like buddha or jesus paintings and statues)

Here is my opinion on the gemholder idea:
Old -- Full blue
New -- Empty blue
Hot old -- Full yellow
Hot new -- Empty yellow
Locked old -- (recolored) Full gray
Locked new -- (recolored) Empty gray
Sticky old -- Full red
Sticky new -- Empty red
Announcement old -- Full green
Announcement new -- Empty green
I thought empty = new becuase, well, empty is the defualt, and when Keen passes by with the key, it becomes full. Get it? Maybe the POSTREPLY could be Keen stealing a key from a holder?

Your idea is basically reverse SB's, just more scpecified. None the less though, that's a pretty good idea.Fleexy wrote:Here is my opinion on the gemholder idea:

My work for keyholders.
Sorry about pink background, no other unused colors...
Maybe a shrunk emoticon for FAQ?
