Do you mean like a screen recorder? Try CamStudio - it's open source.

Press CTRL+ALT+F5 at the same time. You can keep DOSBox windowed and look on the console. It will pop up with a bar of text telling you if it started recording or if it stopped.

Press CTRL+ALT+F5 again to stop recording.

It didn't work how?

By the way, your videos get stored in a specific place on your hard disk. I'm not sure where in the latest DOSBox on Windows, though.

You pressed it a second time to stop recording at some point too, right? Otherwise I don't think it even saves your recording...

By the way, nothing is supposed to visually happen. Unless DOSBox for Windows still has that console window that pops up behind DOSBox, then that notifies you that recording has started.

Also check if:
- The version of DOSBox you have is at least 0.63. Earlier versions don't record video.
- No other shortcut in the system is bound to ctrl+alt+F5 -OR- your mouse is "bound" to DOSBox, thus capturing ALL keyboard input even if it's a different shortcut in your system.
- Your system can actually write to the destination directory of the video.

If you got that anytime in the last two years, it's the right version. 0.63 was a whiles ago.

Get the newest version.

Make sure the back window is visible in one corner of your screen. (This winod is command prompt, is called 'Dosbox Status window' and says at first 'Loading deault setting from...')

Press the keys. It should say 'Start recording video' or something similar. When you press the keys again it will say 'Stopped recording' You should now have a file In 0.72 or below the file folder is C:\Program Files\Dosbox\Capture in later versions it can be accessed from the start menu.

Record Videos in DosBox

Post by KATHERINE »

I want to record some crysis videos at very high quality. My computer passes the minimum requirements, but I can only get like 6 fps at very high. How do I make it so that the recorded video plays back at normal speed and at 30 fps, without buying a new computer?
