This is epic!! Very nice artwork on the tilesets and backgrounds. I like the extra difficulty settings that can be unlocked after beating the game the first time; it really adds to the replay value. The speedrunning option was also a really good idea. In some ways the look and feel of the game reminds me of jazz jackrabbit. I'm only a few levels in so far but I will definitly be playing more as I have time.

And K1n9Duk3, excellent acheivement on this engine!

One very minor nitpick, I think the level entry jingle is too loud compared to everything else.

Thanks, it's good to hear I didn't just waste my time over the past 11 years :old .

I think Roobar changed the volume of the level entry sound in one of his updates. The GameJolt page says it's fixed in the current version 1.0.8.

I have tried to download this game on my phone and at the public library. The web page cannot be found. I've searched for help and I'm probably not tech savvy enough to fix this problem. If anyone has dropbox PM me a link or something coz I'd love to somehow download this.

It's good to know that you keep improving the game, but could you please make a new post in this thread when you release a new version? Just editing the first post doesn't leave any indication that something new has been added, so most forum users won't notice the update.

Also, it would be nice if you could mention what you changed in your update. I don't know how other people think about this, but I would like to know what was changed before I download the whole game again.

The changes are minor. Just some tile fixes, some fixes in secrets in secrets and stuff like that. Don't bother downloading it. If it's something major, I'll update.

In the latest update 1.0.10 since 1.0.8:
Sandy tower is easier on one particular goplat section.
Fixed background in Guard Post 1 to parallax scroll horizontally.
Several small tile fixes.
Fixed a secret within a secret in Guard Post 2.
Changed one bit of a secret within a secret level, so you won't get stuck.

Also, I'll use this opportunity to mention:
proYorp wrote: Thu Apr 18, 2019 19:59The doors in the Deep Forest were a bit confusing at first, since they didn't have their gem holders right next to them. I managed to figure it out, but I feel like the first couple of levels should have the doors and gem holders next to each other so the player can learn what they look like.
I added a door-gem indicator above the doors.

Ah yes. There's definitely some Jazz influence. Probably you are talking about the sewers part. Also, I don't even know how many times I've listened to the Jazz 2 music while making levels lol.

There are, in fact, at least 4 Jazz references/nods.

Whoah this game is radtastic! The Jazz-like music, the many various candies and colours, and rooibos tea!

I am having a trouble with the impossible pogo. All other Keen games I'm quite adept at it but this one... :x Is anyone the same?

Have you discovered a Dangerous Dave section in Guardian Post 2?

stayfrosty: about the Dangerous Dave secret: I'm curious to know if you found a way to get to that blue area next to it as well?

Roobar: no not yet. Thanks for the tip. I'm playing it thru in easy, just trying to beat the levels... then go back for a more in depth playthrough.

I am finding Golden Beaches to be very frustrating. I don't know what I'm doing with all those switches! That's currently as far as I've gotten. The music is killer diller on every level. I'm in love with this game, which gives a nod to so many other retro games (Dangerous Dave, jazz, Mario, Secret Agent, and plenty others)

What's with those easter eggs? Do I attempt to get them or just spot them? In Jungle Post there's one I can see up above but buggered if i can reach it!

I feel as though there are so many nuggets to find in this game.

Btw the impossible pogo is tricky, you need to hold down jump for longer. I can't do it everytime like in Keen but I'm getting a little better.

The eggs currently are only to spot them. Some of them can be reached, some not. Currently the ones you can reach gives you a message. But in the future, achievements may be implemented and reaching all of the possible ones will give you some kind of achievement.

In the future I may post a playthrough for that level you are experiencing problems, but I think you'll eventually figure it out before that.

I don't know what's your problem with the impossible pogo jump. Probably it's your controls? Another reason I could see is that I've noticed that if I change my language form ENG to another language, it screws the impossible pogo for some reason. So you may try to switch to ENG / US keyboard and try if this fixes your issue.

Ok Roobar you've got me curious. Can you give a hint as to how to reach the blue section?
