Keen game icons
I made some new icons for CK fangames. If someone is interested in getting the HQ version of those, just send me a PM or post here.
This is what they look like:
2) Right-click on the DosBox-Icon.
3) Select "Create Shortcut"
4) Copy the shortcut icon to your Desktop or the place where you keep the shortcuts to your games.
5) Right-click on the shortcut to DosBox you just created
6) Select the last entry from the list (should be "Properties" or something like that)
7) Now click on "Shortcut" and goto the "Target"-box.
8 ) Leave the text as it is and enter the name of the Commander Keen executable right after the Dosbox.exe"
Example:
Yo want to start Keen 4 with this shortcut. If Keen 4 is saved in a folder called "oldgames" on your first drive the target field will look like this:
"C:\oldgames\Commander Keen\Goodbye Galaxy\Dosbox.exe" Keen4e.exe
9) If you want Dosbox to close as soon as you quit Keen, add an -exit at the end of the line.
Example:
"C:\oldgames\Commander Keen\Goodbye Galaxy\Dosbox.exe" Keen4e.exe -exit
10) Now it's time to add the icon. Click on "Change symbol" in the same dialog (the button in the middle).
11) Browse to where you saved your icon.
12) Click "Ok"
13) Click "Apply" and then "Ok"
That's it. Everytime you want to run your Keen Game, simply click on the shortcut. It will open Dosbox with the selected game. And that's what those great icons are for.

Ah ok, I thought you had the HQ ones already, didn't know you still had to make them.Keenfan wrote:If someone else wants them, I'll redisign them in a higher resolution (important for Vista and 7). But I wont do the work if no one wants them.
That's why.
Well personally while I do like the icons I wouldn't get any use out of them... But you'll probably find someone who wants them.
HQ icons are now available (some of them are slightly changed).
Get them here (v1.0) (27 kB)
The .zip-file includes:
-Keen icon (i.e. for your CK folder with the other icons)
-Aliens Ate My Babysitter - Again
-Clouds Unseen
-Episode Dash
-Lego Keen
-Mink's Puzzle Pack
-retrosis

And for all of you who want icons for the inofficial TUIT by Ceilick, you can download this zip file containing icons for Keen "7", "8" and even "9". The icons are in the same style like the ones drawn by Aroenai for the original games. (Once again, thanks for the great work, Aroenai!).
Please don't take this offer as an offense. You don't have to accept Ceilick's mods as original. I just thought that the CK-fans who feel the same way like me would like to have these icons as well.

Shortcut arrows aren't shown on the Start Menu anyway and if you had shortcuts to all the mods on your desktop your computer would slow to a crawl at startup (plus you'd run out of space)...Keenfan wrote:I noticed that the icons are not that beautiful if the shortcut arrow is displayed. If you want to know how to change that without deleting a key in the registry let me know. I'll post a tutorial in here.
