NaNoWriMo!!

Post by mortimermcmirestinks »

If you are reading this, I dare you to do it. No Plot? No Problem! (facepalm)

IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS NOVEL DOES NOT HAVE TO BE GOOD. GET RID OF YOUR INNER EDITOR FOR A MONTH.

My novel is about --guess who!-- Our own Cdr. Keen.

Ceilick, I'm using Lieutenant Barker in my story. Is that okay with you?

Different idea; that topic is "NaNoWriMo?" as in, "Is there anyone stupid enough to do this crazy idea??!?" This topic is "NaNoWriMo!" as in "Tell me your progress on your novel!"

Go for it.

:lol All i've been doing so far is editing my first page, because it hasn't built itself as a springboard for the rest of my story yet. As such I'm only at 500 words :o I'm pretty sure I won't be finishing in a month, we'll see how it goes.

Excerpt of what I wrote so far:
The place seemed familiar.

Like deja vu or the corner of some forgotten dream, rising, rising and breaking the surface of my memory. Yes. I'd been there before.

I blinked and suddenly the world became more than my thoughts. I could feel the concrete of the sidewalk beneath my feet, the weight of my own body and the coolness of the night air.

In the twilight I could see a neighborhood, houses across the street from me, trees and side streets, front gardens, hedges, cars parked on the curbs. I didn't recognize any of this and it occurred to me that I didn't know where I was.

A street lamp flickered overhead and leaves began their static rustling in what I guessed was a summer or early autumn wind. I glanced to the right and checked the streets signs. The names and numbers meant nothing to me.

Where the hell was I?

Don't you mean the "street signs"? I would think that "streets signs" is bad grammar. ;)

Anyhow, I had no idea that this month was this writing thingee. I might just go ahead and pull out the novel I was working on a long time ago, and start on it again...

Yeah, I know about the no-previously-written stuff, I just was thinking of picking back up my old novel anyhow. For fun, not for NaNoWriMo.

Beh. Those are more like...guidelines. Image Lots of people write on projects they've already started. The important thing is that you write 50,000 words during November.

Anyway, I am maybe at 9,042 words. Possibly.

I have a 20,000 word story I wrote in June. But it's finished. I plan to add more parts as sequels, but not this month. I still need to go back and fix a lot because some of my writing just sucks.

Hmm, will you write it in Dutch, French, or German?

Awesome job :)

I havent written since the first few days, for various reasons (keen9, dental surgery, mostly just not feeling like it :p ). No way I'm going to finish this month, I'll be lucky to break 2,000 :o But I got started, which I'm happy about, and just beginning has spawned a few ideas themselves.
