Actually, it started (at least in my opinion) with the "What do you sound like" thread, which spawned the "What do you look like" thread. Now, both of those were legitimate threads, but then someone took it too far and made a "what do you smell like" thread, and things went downhill from there.

I think a lot of people, and to some extent everybody, are responsible for the spate of stupid that erupted starting a couple months ago. mmstinks contributed to it plenty but he's certainly not the only one to blame.
