Hey man, free cake!Keening_Product wrote:Why do people actually care about their birthdays? It's not like you actively did anything which warrants recognition on that day.
What's wrong with cake?!
Cake-hater!
You're missing the point of birthday's; it's not about the past, it's about the present - it's a free excuse to game all day with your friends.

It basically started as a much smaller image, but a war slowly incremented it with counter-attacks until giant Keen's mouth ate everything. That make sense?BlueGasMask wrote:what was the original purpose of that image, again?GalaxyEyesPhotonDragon wrote:
I just wanna take time to admire this picture again.
It just never stops being epic.

I'm uncomfortable about celebrating my own birthday. I may have an ego the size of the Vorticon mothership, but there's something about expecting everyone to celebrate your existence that goes too far. I'd like to think the people who appreciate me don't feel the need to bend over backwards to celebrate the anniversary of my exit of my mother's womb.
If you're looking for an excuse for a party, maybe celebrate a recent achievement (and then make the party not about you - just have people over because you're in a good mood and want to share that), the release of a new game or album (it's a shame listening parties are out of fashion), some obscure Aztec celebration or something more fun and creative than a tally of years post umbilical cord cutting.
There's also the greed people cram into it - it's all about the food (too much of it, often - horrible waste), the gifts ("it's my birthday, exercise gross acts of capitalism to prove you love me") and so on that, in this culture, even if you say you don't want you get by legitimately lovely people who feel the need to open their wallets for you.
This is just how I feel, and I don't hold anything against people who celebrate their birthdays in a moderate way. If they're over the age of 12 and run around making a big thing of it all day then I wonder what they're like on the other days of the year.
I still live at home with my parents and sister and we do have a cake, but that's a private thing and my sister loves baking. I'd feel awful is nobody did and felt they had to make me a cake.
