Just when you thought science couldn't get any more useless, someone goes and does this.

This procedure, Wolf said, is not as cruel as it sounds, because ants do not experience pain

"at least not in a sense even remotely comparable to what we mean by that term."
There's something quite sinister about that line.

I am ashamed for you Lemm, you yourself should know better than to refer to such science as useless.

On the one hand yes, there's a dark road to take, insisting that human use of 'pain' is somehow special.

On the other hand it's also misleading to think of all species being equal in terms of feeling pain. It may roughly hold for higher animals but especially when yo get to the world of insects it becomes problematic. If we're willing to entertain ants as feeling pain on a level with humans where does that put flyspray or even headlice shampoo?
What you really need, not what you think you ought to want.

I vote we attach little goggles and caps to Ducks and see if they become avian aviators.
Alternatively we can put them in mini RC carts and turn it into some bizarre real life wacky wheels.

I've killed three birds with one stone by managing to learn a bit of templates and sorting algorithms and recursion at once, thus I've killed three birds with one stone by managing to learn a bit of templates and sorting algorithms and recursion at once, thus I've...
(bad joke, sorry)

Rarely do I feel this happy while doing C++. I think recursion is fun, at least until something goes horribly wrong later on. Now if only I could write some actually useful software...
