Youtube Monetization "Changes"

Post by XrackProject » Fri Dec 01, 2017 10:50

Hey friends,

If somebody has a youtube channel and earns some pocket money by that, don't be surprised or freak out if you get your videos marked with a yellow dollar sign. Youtube included a new system (controlled by a program), with a filter for certain videos. Unfortunately this system is not optimized yet. It also marks completely "ok" videos and disables the monetization or is limiting it. But that is not a big deal! If you let you video check up by an option that appears in the "monetization" options then, this yellow dollar sign will disappear in the next 1 or 2 days. You can upload your videos, and put them first as "unlisted" to see if it will pass through and put it back online to avoid some ad-sense loss.

This system will help out to stop people earning money from videos that contain rassism, sexism, violence, fakenews, clickbait and even more negative stuff that actually turned Youtube into some kind of "trash video" plattform during the last couple of years. Advertising partners have now the right to choose what kind of videos will be cathegorized as not friendly enough for their advertisement.

Some Youtubers already freaked out, because they didn't read any further information about these changes and already moved to an other plattform like Twitch or Vidme. In my opinon a silly move but I don't want to start any further discussion about that topic.

The point is, that these rules always existed in the general terms and conditions but Google never showed up any consequences for negative content. It was only a matter of time until they would wake up or take them serious.

"Advertiser-friendly content guidelines": https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6162278

In a summary: If you don't upload things that are listed in the article above you won't get in trouble. :)

After 10 years of using youtube and 5 years of beeing active on youtube, I have to say that like these changes. I don't know how about the USA or other states but in the german area there appeared THAT kind of stupid videos that I can't even describe. Bomb prank videos just a day right after a real terror attack in Europe have been made and monetized by big youtubers for example. One of these got in prison lately for that, but this won't rehabilitate the people he scared. Some of them are not able to go outside anymore because they get panic attacks. Well thats just a "small" example why Youtube probably woke up right now. "Right wing nazi videos" are probably the softest...

I probably shouldn't ask but

Are there any "big youtubers" that make "Right wing nazi videos"?

I'm not sure. But what I know is that there are some "Left wing" youtubers, who critizise for example the police if they try to stop a violent demonstration. The best example was the G12 meeting in Hamburg some months ago. There was one big youtuber in the middle of this event streaming and also he wasn't listening to the police when they told him to go away from this area because it got dangerous. On the next day, videos appeared with the title like "XXXXXXXX got attacked by the police"...

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. About politics I am neutral but I don't think that people should make money of that type of videos.

People have, are and will try to make money out of everything.

Thanks for pointing that out. Although I make some videos, I haven't really made money out of this "business" yet. I guess I need to make some "Right wing nazi videos" then :crazy :crazy ...

This has been the case since the year dot. Yellow journalism built most of our favorite papers. TV was and is full of utter tripe and news shows especially loved to twist things to their own agenda. To be frank in the USA at least the right has led this charge, just look at the... interesting stuff you can find on sites like InfoWars (NASA has a child slavery mars colony!) and similar sites. It's only now that the left is catching up, and they're doing so on platforms that are more left leaning such as Youtube and tumblr.

But the right is fighting back powerfully! This november 5th a video featuring a vaguely police-looking man talking about how Antifa was going to stage country-wide riots to cause a civil war and topple the government got quite a lot of attention. It turned out that this was some random guy with a stick-on badge, but you can still see legions of videos warning of the threat. The comments are interesting, they're all very serious, and seem to have stopped on November 6th.

But for all that, here's a catchy clickbait apology song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fziDrVZwOK4

You may have heard this, but YouTube has changed its monetization policies yet again! And at a very, very bad time :(. This time killing millions of small channels revenue! Unless you have 1000 subs or 4000 hours watch time, you'll won't be able to monetize your videos anymore!

https://youtube-creators.googleblog.com ... rtner.html

You at least are much closer to 1000 subs. With 67 subs I'm far away from that goal (must prepare a nazi video xd), but can you subscribe to my gaming channel? And I'll subscribe to yours. You at least can try reach the goal. Thanks.

Is it either or both? I was on my way toward approval based on views, but I'm now being told this:
YouTube wrote:Get reviewed after reaching 4,000 watch hours in the previous 12 months and 1,000 subscribers

Both is needed. I was partnered over 4 years with a network and my partnership was cancelled too but I take it easy. If you like making videos then this wont stop you from doing this. I am an active Youtuber since 6 years now, and what I can tell is, that the 1.000 subs show, that your around youtube aswell. It shows that you like to communicate with other Youtubers and also watch other videos. This is what Youtube wants! 4.000 hours of watchtime during the last 365 days show, that people actually watch your videos. This parameter is the best feedback that you can get on Youtube. Its not about views, likes, dislikes, shareing or anything else. This number is pretty fair because it will from now on prevent clickbaiters of getting payed with stolen content. All these "I love you" channels will disappear and many other negative and criminal activity too. Thats the actually reason why this changes appeared. Too many people started uploading werid and also cirminal stuff and it went out of controll.

Thats why Im fine with Youtube's decision. I observed for over 6 years now how everything changed into negative on youtube and I hope things will get better now. :-)

I just subscribed to your channel! :) It is true im much closer to the 1000 subs but its still not easy to archieve this number. Believe me... My channel is more like a subscribtion collector. This sounds positive in the first moment, but I collected these during the last 6 years. 90% of these are inactive, abandonned or just stopped watching my content even if I upload on a regular basis... Now let me take a look at your channel! :) I already see that you offer Keen-Content aswell! :love
