Anime and Manga thread
Do any of you guys watch/read anime/manga?
I'm an admin at a One Piece forum, so I like One Piece a lot, but I have some other favorites:
20th Century Boys
Monster
Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken
Death Note
Bobobobobobobo (yes that's the name)
Fist of the North Star
Full Metal Alchemist (I'm not up to date on this yet so don't spoil)
What are your favorites?
Please try not to spoil major plot points for others (is there a spoiler tag?).

Anything by Studio Ghibli is a must-watch, even for non-anime fans. They're well animated modern (usually) fairy tales!
Then I like the stuff that's well-animated or has a strong story line. I've watched a ton of anime but only very little actually falls into the "memorable" category for me - and that's ones with the strong aspects of animation and storyline.
Exceptions are incredibly silly anime like Excel Saga, Galaxy Angel and Magipoka.

imo bobobobobobobo was trying too hard to be random and wasn't funny (this is coming from someone with years of conditioning with spongebob, family guy, invader zim, sheep in the big city, etc).
For the most part I like the art style more than the stories on their own. Despite their high praise there are precious few that truly stand out as being exceptional (naruto, dragonball, death note, kikis delivery service, hamtaro [DONT KNOCK IT TILL U TRY IT!]) as they are living in a sea of animes.

The only anime (I guess it's called that) I like is The Animatrix. And usually I only watch three of the stories: Kid's Story, A Detective Story and World Record.

I got a bit bored with Shonen. I watched Naruto up until like episode 140 or something, where it all just became filler episodes with pointless storylines. I'm currently reading Bleach though... it's got some funny jokes in it, although it feels like the same scenario happens chapter after chapter.
I also watched most of a series called Wolf's Rain... it only had like 30 episodes, and I STILL never got around to finishing it.
Embarrassingly enough, the only series I've watched from beginning to end are Lucky Star, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, K-on!, and Azumanga Daioh... I like hyper, random, slice-of-life anime.
Plus it's easier to stop watching a series like this and come back to it later... there's no need to recap, since there's no continuous storyline or anything.
And I plan on watching all of Miyazaki's films. So far I've watched Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea... I started watching Howl's Moving Castle, but I haven't had time to finish it (well, I haven't made time yet...)

Um... near the end of the second book. I haven't had much time to read them.RoboBlue wrote:How far into Bleach are you?
I'm up to the current chapter, but the story is really dull at the moment.
But I got the first 5 books at a used bookstore for like 50 cents each, which is awesome. The rest I'll probably just read online.

I enjoyed Samurai Champloo, Last Exile, Ergo Proxy, and Death note.
I've seen My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, and Nausica Valley of the wind, though I only liked the last three. Have also seen Tales from Earthsea, which was ok.
Watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time last night, which I liked for the most part; the ending felt kind of empty.
