Huey Lewis and the News - Picture This
It took me surprisingly long to reach so far back in time and listen to this album, but it was well worth it. Faster paced songs like Workin' for a Livin' blend in well with slower ones, my favorites being Tell Me a Little Lie and Do You Believe In Love. The overall sound is much better than I expected and it all just screams 80s in a way that I find myself drooling at.
I'm so buying a physical copy.

RIP to the great Ray Manzarek. >:

I enjoyed those selections Tulip... you seem to have a wealth of knowledge of unheard '60s stuff.
This isn't unheard but it is great: Crystal Blue Persuasion I think it got some attention due to some television show which I have yet to start watching. Too busy on 'The League of Gentlemen' at the minute!
As for your '80s song... For some reason it reminded me a little of Propaganda, an '80s band from your own country... you probably know them. Dr. Mabeuse.
Edit: and then there's "Dream Baby Dream" by Suicide. Wow. cool fan video also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyvhTIOJeJ4

In the Keen Reference thread, VBB just posted something about "Durandal," by Harold Lamb. This calls for a drink and a song:

I've been a fan of Datassette for some years, downloading all the tracks I could get from his old website. He does a variety of 80's-influenced instrumental synth music. His latest release is People Without Mouths, and I mostly bought it for this track: Datassette - Power Ballad (album link in video description)
The guy who made that Youtube-melting video also makes videos for a number of other independent artists in that general landscape of music, which is how I found out about Adeyhawke's Album, Kodachrome Sundae: Adeyhawke - Looker (Album on Bandcamp)

I love songs that make me feel nostalgia for an era in which I never lived: http://youtu.be/vEymZ3rXOmc

What a great statement; I also really enjoy such songs. I have a great fondness for the '20s-'50s. There was such a veneer of innocence and quaintness in the music of those times - when I was younger I assumed that people were much more innocent then and had minimal interest in sex and drugs etc. But I find it much more interesting to listen to such songs in the light of the realisation that, in fact, humans have always had urges as strong as they do today, and that all these old songs express these using language acceptable in their day.Paramultart wrote:I love songs that make me feel nostalgia for an era in which I never lived
This is an old favourite.
Frank Sinatra - We'll Be Together Again.
