Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

Post by kuliwil »

Pretty much Oasis 2.0 from what I've heard - some really neat changes to the sound (possibly even more Beatles, wow, and maybe a tad of immediately post-Syd Pink Floyd in there too) but besides that it's pretty Oasis-ish.

I've not heard the whole album yet.

And this is a mesh of a whole heap of Oasis shiz with a bit of emo rock-ish stuff. Yes, I'm feeling articulate and justified today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0QMhSLg ... re=related

EDIT: Well this is a little different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwHpLDgW ... ure=relmfu

Noel is prolly one of the most unpleasant persons in music history. But at least he used to know how to music.
These links hold up to my theory that most musicians hit their zenith at below 25, and above 30 fall into some sort of recycling and refining process that sucks out the life of most of their music. (I wrote most not all musicians mind you)

So bottom line, the first one is neat, a little too orch heavy for my taste, but still interesting. The second would have been an average Oasis song, the rest isn't worth spending money for, I think.

Without the orch bit, that pretty much summarises 75% of their releases.

Dig Out Your Soul is pretty much the only recent release to make it into the 25%.

Always liked Noel's singing more that Liam's, so I'm pro Oasis 2.0. Had only heard "If I had a Gun" up till now, which I enjoyed. "Dream On" is meh, do like "Everybody's on the Run" though. Not sure how I feel about "AKA... What A Life!"
