Commander Keen tv show - did I imagine it?

Post by The Leen »

Hi people,

this has been bugging me for years now, so I am taking my question to the experts.

I THOUGHT I'd seen an episode of a Commander Keen cartoon show ca. 15 years ago. It featured a boy with a helmet, using a rockety space ship to fly to other planets (from his bedroom window?). He had a pet dog.

The only episode I saw went like this: the boy landed on a 2d world (which was a disk or somesuch) with little 2d inhabitants, one of which tried to climb (slide) into his rocket.

I googled this many times an have never been able to find any reference to this on the internet ever.

Possiblity 1: I dreamt it, all these years mistaking the dream for an actual memory.

Possibility 2: It was a show that reminded me of Commander Keen... a LOT.

Possibility 3: Some time traveller stepped on a butterly and somehow the show vanished from existance and I'm the only one to remember it, for whatever reason.

Has anybody seen anything like this on tv during the nineties? I must find the show - this is driving me nuts.

Much obliged!

I was thinking Jimmy Neutron. But that might be too recent.

When I was 3 years old, I could have sworn there was a Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure cartoon. I even asked my sisters about it, and they looked at me like I was crazy.

Thanks for the input, guys.

I did a quick check on Bobby's World's episode guide, but the catchwords "dimension", "space", "planet" and "rocket" didn't give me any results.

I know it wasn't Jimmy Neutron, as it was definitely LAST century, and conventional hand-drawn 2D animation.

Argh!

If I had the skills to recreate it from scratch I would ;) It was quite funny. The 2D people walked around on their little disc world like egyptians on an egyptian mural...

Coming to think of, as a kid I also imagined once or twice how Keen would look in a tv cartoon or show. As I remember, one possibility was something like the Barbarons and Snoopy. Another one would be something like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTBBNVwz5Dc or/and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGrhQXtn92g.

And I think as a movie character, Billy Blaze would fit superb in Super 8 or in a similarly directed one.

Old cartoons were the best, I'm sure Para would agree if anyone.
