whee, I picked up a couple things between past post and Now

Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn (2005)
Red Sparowes - Every Red Heart Shines Towards The Red Sun (2006)
personally I kind of like these more than the later releases? I mean I like em all but y'know. these ones feel like they have more of a cohesiveness and narrative, or maybe that's just a byproduct of the track titles (good lord those track titles)

Darren Korb - Bastion Original Soundtrack (2011)
this was a really good game and it has a reallly good soundtrack. described by the artist as "acoustic frontier triphop". I don't really know what to say.

Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz (2010)
a lot more electronic (musically) and personal (lyrically) than, say, Illinois, which is just fine by me. not really a fan of most of Impossible Soul (the longest song on the album at 20 minutes) though. perhaps the first 5 minutes and the last 3 minutes are interesting but in the middle it sucks imho. still, the rest of the album sufficiently compensates for it.

Coherant - Writing Wrong (2012)
Coherant - Eyes on the Sun (2012)
Coherant - Unhappy People Unite: Let's Figure This F*cker Out (2012)
ckguy's been prolific of late. wouldn't mind a bit more of the super ambient stuff like Rebuilding Now but it's all good. ckguy would probably like me to remind you all that his music exists at http://www.coherant.org/ if I'm going to mention it.

also just (like a couple hours ago) bought the latest Indie Game Music Bundle but haven't listened to any of it yet since download quotas and offpeak downloads etc. may have also purchased other things but they slip my mind

Here's some hard rocking for you all this fine evening http://youtu.be/3IjMTyDtEaM

When I first heard this song I though it was by RATM, a common misconception (e.g. http://youtu.be/pPIbJcpmHUc), but the truth is more exciting, it's by the Urban Dance Squad from the lovely Netherlands!! And it outclasses Rage by quite a bit!

Peter Hammill - Over (1977)

One review on amazon is simply "A splendid album full of hate and love. Amazing" and this pretty much sums it up.

Meat Puppets - Meat Puppets II - representative song, well that actually isn't really possible as this record is quite diverse. But I love the guitar in this one: http://youtu.be/YmAnzLxI-cA . This music is difficult to label, try "prototypical-grungy psychedeleic country rock" from the early 1980s. The three songs of Unplugged In New York fame are surprisingly sludgy on this record and would not be the most appealing on this album (despite being standout tracks on Nirvana's 1994 effort).

@ckguy, sorry I find your post a tad overwhelming due to the sheer number of records presented, but some of those tracks are pretty fun, especially the one by Pet which appeals to my quite grungy tastes.

This is all over the span of like two months that I've bought these.

Laibach - Volk: Kind of disappointed with this one. Had an interesting concept but was executed mostly as pretty unmemorable industrial/dance music. A lot of the same problems WAT had.

David Allan Coe - The Essential David Allan Coe

Sleep - Dopesmoker

Devo - Q: Are We Not Men?...
Devo - Freedom of Choice
Devo - Something for Everybody
Devo - Duty Now for the Future
Guess what band I discovered I liked

Ã￾Â￾Ñ€Ã￾¸ÑÂ￾ - Ã￾¤Ã￾µÃ￾½Ã￾¸Ã￾ºÑÂ￾

Ã￾â€￾Ã￾â€￾Ã￾¢ - Ã￾›ÑƒÑ‡ÑˆÃ￾¸Ã￾µ Ã￾¿Ã￾µÑÂ￾Ã￾½Ã￾¸

I'm looking now into getting the soundtrack to Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov. I just saw the opera (well, part of it) last night and it's pretty epic.)

Woooooo! Another Devo fan!

I have a few of their records from op shops and record fairs. They are one of, if not my number one favourite band right now.

Have you heard New Traditionalists?

Also, notice the Eno influence in Q/A?

YES! great post-script ckguy.

i love 'Night Of The Swallow' and 'Oh To Be In Love' as favourites from those great albums.

you also really need to follow up with these two later offerings:

Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (1985)
Kate Bush - The Sensual World (1989)

This here could be my favourite of her songs. The strings and violin are beautiful. And there's something really comforting about how they often recorded guitar in the 80s (slightly echoey rich layered sound), I wonder if anyone else finds this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=av4PezYZoBk
Sorry to disregard your other post's content but I am a big fan of Kate so felt compelled to reply promptly!!
