Local Music Thread

Over the years there have been threads, with variable activity, dedicated to everyone's favourite popular music. But I thought that perhaps it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to local acts that people feel really deserve a bit of online promotion and that, more importantly, might be appealing to members of this community. Of course people creating their own music, such as ckguy, would be better off having their own topic but maybe this thread could be for acquaintances.

So without further ado, please check out this song from a band from my general area which deserves to be recognised. This has a great sound and production value and is genuinely one of the best things I've heard from this century in music.

I can't find any non-cover videos on YouTube, but here's a link to a friend of mine's self-titled EP. Kind of country-infused pop.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQZiQE5VsWs Mars Mushrooms. Played in a band contest together with them. Back in the day they didn't win but I already knew they were the only ones in the whole contest that will become something bigger.
In the end it was true. they seem to be the only ones still around, have played in Japan and have also done a concert in collaboration with Krautrock legends from bands like Embryo and whatnot.

That description makes them sound promising - I will listen when I have spare bandwidth.

This is excellent. Definitely one of the present and future's great artists if she keeps this up
