You people are bringing me down...

Post by Vitaminzach »

I remember several of you here were big fans of Donnie Darko a few years back. Well I finally got around to watching it a couple weeks ago. That movie made me rather sad. I don't recall any of you saying it was such a sad movie. Boo!

Sorry I'm late to the party, and don't know how to avoid spoiling for others... stop reading if you haven't seen the movie!!
So did his little sister end up dying?

P.S.
I liked the movie.

P.P.S.
OH YIKES!!! I never watched it long enough, but for the first time, I just saw the banner change to Mortimer. EEK!! :o

I still don't know much about the official explanation (in case the confusing descriptions I have read are in any way official), but I think eventually she will live, because Donnie prevented all that future/reality from happening. :confused By the way, I don't think it's sad, at least not anymore, in case I once did.

Yeah, pretty sure his sister doesn't die. I mean, none of the events that brought about her death ended up actually happening. Only Donnie himself dies.

edit: Unless I'm confused about something. The last ten minutes or so of that movie did thoroughly confuse me when I first saw them. And I don't remember 100% what happened anymore.

edit #2: How can a movie with the phrase "kiddie porn dungeon" in it be a sad movie? :lol :crazy

Have you watched the the directors cut? It has a number of excerpts from the accompanying book that explain some of the more subtle elements of the plot.

Have not seen the director's cut. It seemed like the jet engine came from the future, meaning that part did indeed happen. Without going into detail, that is what made me think she died.
