Continental does this too. My marching band traveled to Ireland and they were our domestic people. They were throwing saxophones from the belt off the plane onto their transport truck! When they weren't dropping them on the ground, that is. We're lucky our instruments got there in one piece. My checked luggage, on the other hand, did not arrive in the same condition it was in when I put it on the plane. >:
