Looks something like Stargunner, but slightly newer:
From what I remember, you can upgrade your ship.
I'm also looking to some shoot em ups similar to Tyrian and Raptor, where you can upgrade things. It might not be a shmup, but in the similar way that you progress and upgrade. If someone have recommendations...

I made my own pipes game using java. But it's all random. Missing unmovable pieces that the level starts with, and the ending pieces. Just had to go till you ran out of space and work for a high score. Didn't take too long to max out the high score though.
The 8+ year search is over! Found it!
It's called Monsters of Terror originally for MS-DOS but was left unfinished and unreleased. Not sure how my brother got a copy. It later turned into an Amiga game.
So there's this old DOS game that I've been trying to find for years. It would be a whole lot easier to find if I knew the name. But I can't remember! Do you know what game I'm talking about?
The exe was named "mon"
It's a 4-player game
Players can be controlled by Joystick, Keyboard or Mouse
There were 4 characters, each having a name. I can't remember their names but it went some like "Zappo" "Zippy" "Zappy" "Zippo."
2 characters were male, the other 2 were female
The game would start after a deep voice said "GET READY"
Each character starts in their respective corners of the map.
Each character has 3 (or was it 4?) lives.
The map was like a maze. The walls were blue, the floor was purplish.
At random, cherries would appear in various places in the maze. When a character spotted the cherries, they'd say "Ah! Bonus!"
The game was like...over-head, arcade shooter style
The objective was the clear the map of all monsters.
I used to call the game "Monsters". That very well could be the name of the game seeing as how the exe was named "mon".
But I can't find a game called "Monsters" ...snip...

Alas, tis not to be. Whoever is in charge no longer has the DOS version. I might try to config the Amiga version, but just seeing it again is enough. Almost enough.
