let's play daikatana
I'm watching and reading these currently:
http://lparchive.org/LetsPlay/Daikatana/
They're so hard on Romero. I mean, we know it wasn't his fault. It was the rest of the lousy Ion Storm team who didn't happen to be Tom Hall, Adrian Carmack, and Bobby Prince. John Carmack sucks and he's evil.
Romero was so sexy. He had the hair and the attitude and the hair and the good looks and the pretty hair and he was the one who had great ambitions with gameplay, whereas Tom was the one with great ambitions with story. Now his hair is practically a crew cut and its a shame =(
And falling through platforms on tiles that look exactly identical to the solid tiles in Dangerous Dave 1 wasn't Romero's fault, either. Even though he made the whole game by himself. Just so you know.
John Carmack and his nerdy glasses and pocket protectors can go to Xibalba >:

Without Carmack, Romero would've been a nobody.VikingBoyBilly wrote:John Carmack sucks and he's evil.

Where do you think batman would be if the Joker didn't kill his mommy and daddy?
There's something to think about

Hey guiz what's up glad u lieked my gaem. I'm maeking 5 mmo's lolkthxbye.
No seriously... Romero FTW. It's a shame to see such talent go to waste. (ie. he hasn't really done anything I liked since Quake)
John Carmack needs to get his head out of his ass and reassemble the REAL ID Software.

In the LP it's mentioned that he sat back and let his girlfriend and some other guy make all the maps for Daikatana, which explains why they're so bad. He didn't even do the thing he was best at.
He adamantly tried to cram all of his ambitious ideas into the game which is what was famous for all those quake delays.
He was working with the wrong people. He wanted to make this first-person RPG thing in a Norse fantasy setting. He should've joined Raven and worked on the Hexen sequels, and keep them from being bought out by activision to make freaking soldier of fortune and quake 4

I once tried playing Daikatana, thinking it can't be that bad.
Then I saw all the wooden puppet animation. No, worse than wooden puppet animation. I mean sheesh, not even robots move that stiff.
But yeah, I get why this game was a flop. The GBC game looks good, though, maybe that's more enjoyable.
