Apogee/3D Realms Store
Apogee/3D Realms Store
i may want to purchase some legit classic games from the 3drealms store. does anyone know if the games contain drm protection? does not bother me but i'd still like to know
If you can't change the rules, challenge them, rules are made to be broken
Up yours Fleexy!

I haven't bought any games there, but from what I've read on the 3DR forums, the games are all the original DOS files, wrapped with a Windows installer (also containing the DOSBox emulator).
So at least after you ran the installer, the files should be DRM-free.
Also remember to create a backup of the files you downloaded. If you lose those files, you'll have to buy the games AGAIN if you want to re-download the files.

Hail to the K1n9, baby!

Actually yes. I did buy some games from the 3DRealms Store, but back in 2005. The games are packed into a WINZIP Self Extracting Archive which extracts and launches the DOS installer, but much different than they used to have back in the days. They are all registered and the last version of every single game, so they are up to date.
Here's a list of what I bought...
So yeah, no DRM here... It's just pure awesomeness... I don't know how the new stuff looks like. But I know that now DOSBox is now included, and is has a new installer...
