Oblivion
Oblivion
I bought Oblivion GotY Deluxe today (contains all oblivion expansions ever).
I wanted to buy Fallout 3 GotY, but it was too expensive.
And I never got into Oblivion, so I thought it would be worth a try.
Took me a full day to get it to work so I couldn't even play it yesterday when I bought it.
It wasn't that hard to install, but I wanted to mod it from the start to get the best experience.
I currently have Qarls Texture Pack 3 Redimized installed and Darnified UI, this makes the experience much better.
I also optimized my system for gaming and got it to run a lot faster, I can now run Oblivion on Ultra High, with draw distance on max and High resolution mod installed with hardly any frame rate drops.
I've read there is about 250 hours worth of gameplay in the GotY Deluxe edition.
Really I have no idea if I'm ever going to finish this game.
But its fun to get sucked into the world.
I've been playing for 4 hours and it still feels like a fresh start, this game is huge.
I know its from 2006 so a lot of people have quite recently finished this game and forgot about it, and other people might not care for this type of game.
Does or did anybody here play Oblivion?

to be fair unreal tournament is worse, because they directly ripped the crystal vials and didn't even try to hide it (shame on you epic! You can't make a good game without stealing from Raven or ID). Oblivion just happens to be an fps that takes place in a cliche'd rpg world, from what I gather.

Elder scrolls is part of oblivion, you might say they "ripped someone off" but its a fantasy game and it uses a lot of elements other fantasy games are using.Paramultart wrote:Isn't Oblivion part of a massive series of games that spans back to the 80s?
I don't think it ripped anyone off.
Its the first first person game in the series.
You could also say commander keen ripped of from mario, or you could say it was the first sandbox game cause you are able to choose the order you play it in.
But really thats all just garg.
Commander Keen is a unique game.
Oblivion is a unique game.

Well I read (sourced from the Raffel brothers themselves, i believe) that some of the items in Hexen came directly from this thing called 'dungeons and dragons.' So by extension all of the above except beowOlf (with an 'o'. AN O FOR ODIN'S SAKE! And it's "Balder" with an E, not "Baldur" because some stupid video game mispelled his name) ripped off a nerdy board game Romero used to name a big sword.

What are your sources for these being the only accepted spellings? This suggests that the Anglicization of Old Norse is understandably not so clear-cut...VikingBoyBilly wrote:(with an 'o'. Adamant stubbornness. And a book by a guy named Kevin Crossley-Holland who calls him 'Balder' that I've clung onto for almost 10 years.StupidBunny wrote:What are your sources for these being the only accepted spellings?VikingBoyBilly wrote:(with an 'o'.
