Remake of Death Rally for iphone and ipad

Post by Apogee1 »

Our friends at Remedy are remaking Death Rally. I spoke to these guys at Games Con back in 2009 about this project, but they wanted to hold off until after Alan Wake came out. Remedy always had a love for this game, and you can be sure that this remake will be kick ass. Remedy did this project on their own, and Apogee was not involved.

I recall when the Remedy team came to Dallas just before the first Death Rally was released (they were pitching an idea that would be transformed into the Max Payne project), and they said they wanted to challenge me and Scott to a Death Rally match, well, no need to say that the developers of the game were stunned to find out what going to school is all about. Scott and I were the two best players in the office, and I usually beat Scott 8 out of 10 times. I still rib both Petri and Markus about the schooling I gave them back then, and of course just did it again on Petri's facebook page. ;)

Check out this link for some new game play action from this remake:

Haha nice. I actually ran into my old Death Rally CD last night while packing up stuff to move apartments. Have some good memories of it.

The remake looks pretty sweet.

Woow! That's sweet! I didn't saw this coming. Yeah, we all love DR! It's simply addictive game! The good news just keep coming! Let's hope for Android and Bada releases also. Thanks for sharing the news, Apogee1!

That I have never heard of this game before.

But looking at that small screenshot I can say it's already on my to-get list.

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /files/DeathRallyWin_10.exe on this server.

Also, it might be a remake of an old game, but who says it is going to be succesful?

When it came out, it had very good ratings... but it doesn't count very much, effectively. The easier difficulty was way too easy, but the hardest was quite tough...

CKeen, try here: http://www.old-cans.com/en/death_rally/
"So Achmed, you're trying to impersonate someone?"

"I'm Santa Claus, dammit! I look just like him! I'm jolly... and I'm fat... ish..."

hehe, no experiments here. There is a top-down racing game for iPhone already and apparently selling well, and now those guys jump in with the flow. But yeah, Death Rally was a cool game, not as good as Micro Machines but still pretty solid.

Pointless iPhone/iPad-only remake is pointless.

Was at GDC last week, and got my hands on the iphone version of Death Rally from one of my buddies from Remedy. Engine tech is very cool, game play is fast and exciting, graphics are very good too. Duke will make an appearance in the game just as with the classic game.

This looks neat, but the iphone/ipad are way too expensive for me. :|
If it comes out as 3dsware or dsiware I'll check it out.
