I hope so! They may even put Knuckles in this latest episode, I'm not too sure.

As a side note, I really wish they'd revamp Tails' design. They don't have to go retro, but even making him look closer to the Sonic Adventure version (which is my favorite look for post-classic Tails) would improve things a great deal. He looks too scrawny and his mouth doesn't fit either.

But on the gameplay side, I have a little higher hopes for this game, because its supposedly using better physics than the last episode, which played very uncharacteristic of the classic Sonic games. The physics in Sonic Generations were an extremely good sign that they fixed things.

Knuckles's job is guarding the master emerald. Unless Robotnik goes back to angel island to steal it, there's no logical reason Knuckles should be reprised for an active role.

Who am I kidding? Sonic stories aren't founded in logic.

Probably not because of poor sales, unfortunately. They said that if the sales are good, they'll make a third in the series. But they would've at least announce it by now. Instead, they're focused on different type of games like All stars racing (which is OK) and Sonic Dash (which is a total bitch and a new level of degradation in the Sonic history because you have to buy lives and stuff and is not as good as Temple Run).
