The game has its flaws but I'd hardly say it's done by today's "standards" (unless you mean the graphics)-- there's no regenerative health, level design isn't too linear, there's secrets galore, it actually has a sense of humor, they brought back the jump pads so you can blow enemies away 20 feet up in the air, etc.

In other words, it's one of the best efforts at a throwback to classic gaming that we've had.
