Well, there's always a risk and nothing is certain. Like Broken Age, where Tim Schafer's $3.3 million weren't enough for him to finish the game he wanted. But consider this like if instead of a publisher is funding you (with the pros and cons of this), the gamers are doing it. If your project has a $100 000 goal and you achieve it, and if you have a plan to finish it within 12 months (full time job), you'll have $8333.33 a month! Usually, the small project games are consisted by 2-3 people, but lets say you have a team of 6 people. That means roughly $1388 per month for each one person. Also, you may surpass your goal, reaching like $120 000, with an (usually) overpriced goal. But, once your game is released, don't forget that your game (like most of those games, if not all), will went to Steam and other consoles that will earn you money. What you'll earn you may spend on your next project and so on.
So in the end, if you're very careful with your calculations, it's a win-win process. You'll work on what you want and get paid and make profit.
Btw, here's another project that's worth looking at:
La-Mulana 2

It's been a while, so here's a shout-out for a project that I personally would like to be funded:
Buck.
Another one that is worth checking out is
Heart Forth, Alicia. Beautiful art and metroidvania feel.

You know I was joking right?
Also, I was just browsing some of the hardware category and I was wondering what everyone else thinks of all the "Open Source Game Consoles" being kickstarted.

Considering Occulus Rift came out from a Kickstarter campaign, what do you think we think? It's awesome and groundbreaking!

The Addams Family Pinball
One of the best pinball tables ever released being developed for modern systems (only another 18k left to reach to goal!):

Since I'm a huge Heroes 3 fan, I would support anything that is similar to it. And after many years of hoping to see such a game, my wish might actually become a reality!
Palm Kingdoms 3
That's the closest to Heroes game I've ever seen. Lets hope it will get enough support. I wonder if there are any Heroes 3 fans out here?

Blossom tales looks like zelda. And not just "oh look another overhead view adventure game," I mean it looks like an exact clone, with Hyrule castle and it's walls traced straight from aLttP and the fortune teller's house to boot. Some minor aesthetic differences isn't going to make me think "oh, this isn't zelda at all, it's something completely original and different, wow." It's not even aesthetic differences. It's aesthetic style is the same, it's just techically not tje exact same art. Why would someone waste their life making a zelda clone when they could make a zelda-ish game in a setting that hasn't been overdone to death? Like replace hyrule castle with a pharoah palace surrounded by pyramid dungeons, or put it in outer space, under the sea, an ice fortress in the mountains of madness, just something to set this apart from zelda...
