Tom Hall's got a Kickstarter! [Spoiler: It's not TUIT]

Tom Hall and Brenda Braithwaite want to make an old-school RPG, whatever that means! Also conspicuously present, albeit smartly unnamed, is John Romero, as always, being John Romero.

I'm a backer now, but just because it's Tom Hall (and there are high chances that Keen might appear as an Easter egg or something). I'm not that much into rpgs (unless it's something like Dragon Quest or Zelda). Lets see how well he is going to make it because 1 million are a lot of money to ask.

Btw why not using the kickstarter topic?

Sure wish I had $10,000 just lying around. Then I could pass out 25 copies of the game to anyone here that would want it -- if the game was any good. I mean, swords, knights, magic, chests....We've all seen that before. I sure hope Tom and Brenda get to make the game why want to make.

If I had some way of making payments for things online I would SO actually put a few dollars in.

They've given a much meatier update today. The idea behind it makes me :drool. Judging from the initial sum, it looks like this one might be right down to the wire. I hope it makes it!

It's trending to $2.5m now, but I guess it'll drop to 1.5m. It's till too early to say though.

I really want to support them, but don't have spare cash right now. That red velvet pillow is a cute touch. Would be nice to meet them in person though.

When they arrive at my house, I'll have a few camera set up to record the whole thing. Then I'll kidnap them all and force them to play a few levels in certain mods.

Sure there is! Old school games like Raptor have scores measured in money. All the need to do is... oh, wait.

So far they're making almost the same mistakes as the most epic failure - David Crane`s Jungle Adventure!

They rely mostly on their names, not showing even a glimpse of gameplay. That might have been working in the past, but now that Kickstarter is nothing new to the masses, it takes more than that.

They put a way too high goal. They should have put a more realistic and reachable goal, which will then be surpassed many times as new strech goals were announced.

Which lead to the next major mistake. They posted stretch goals from the beginning while not even close to reach its initial goal!

They've reached a wider audience than David Crane, but it is still not enough. It's still unclear whether they'll reach the goal or not, but so far it's not quite the hype you would expect from such a big names in the industry. Lets see the impact of their next big announcement and whether it will change anything or not.

I think the most epic failure that I've seen is The Catacomb Port. Six backers. Ouch.
