ANYTHING to do with Shivers!

Even that snake UI thing at the bottom of the screen is unnerving at times.

*facepalm* I should have grabbed one that didn't have the region blocking.

If only I knew which ones...

Haha! Better luck next time... or not. :mortlol

More SANIC weirdness -- seriously this has to be one of the weirdest things I've seen in gaming.

EDIT: Fair warning on both videos, turn the volume down (preferably all the way down) or you will have your ears destroyed by a badly mutated version of the Green Hill Zone theme.

Here's a legitimate creepy Sonic thing. Supposedly this is what you got when you try to play Sonic CD with a pirated disc: http://youtu.be/Z0fNa7Xw5PE?t=48s

How do software companies detect pirated software and respond accordingly? Does pirating activate or lop off certain parts of code?
I think it's cool that they can do stuff like that.

There are numerous methods; sometimes there's a bit of code that can't be copied correctly, when the game notes this is missing, pirated. Sometimes it's something physically special in the disk itself. More recently games check their number online and if a duplicate or error is detected, pirated.

Spyro 2 was nice enough to warn you the pirated disk may have problems, ad one notable game played ok, until the second level where the gameplay would slowly degrade...

Before there was giygas, there was that Big-Lipped-Alligator moment when you ate some "magic cake" and suddenly started having a "very strange and very vivid dream" about being an Asian Prince named Poo on a floating island meditating about a ghost chopping your limbs off and feeding you to the crows to creepy music and a static background, ending with him taking your eyeballs, your ears, and finally your mind. Every Duke Nukem game before that had a slime, like the slime tooth climber on the first game and the glass cage slime monster from Duke Nukem 2.

The Ghosts from Wolfenstein 3D E3M10 were unexpected. I call that level "Pacman 3D".
But the worst was Prince of Persia. I cannot remember how the end goes after one hour, nor would I like to find out again. And I used to be afraid to let the prince die til the game restarted. That skeleton on level three was bad too. I named everyone on that game after a relative or neighbor, for example, the Prince was my dad and I was the rat. I had an uncle who ended up being the gate, spikes, and teeth though. He was all the sharp things! The shadow in level 12 scared me too. So when I was young, the only part I liked about Prince of Persia was naming everyone,
Then there was Operation Wolf. I was too afraid to continue after the Powder Magazine level. I'd always yell for my mom to come and finish. I remember my older sister always braved through the whole game and the President would yell at her; she didn't know why though!
Morris Fudley has worn out this shower!

I only had Duke3D when I was little and hadn't played Duke 1/2 until almost 10 years later. Still though, the Duke3D slimes were the scariest with the loud noises they made and the way they tried to literally bite your face off... :dead

The unused "pile of meat" Doom sprite is pretty icky, even by Doom's standards.
