StupidBunny wrote: You said the thing about series...when you put Hexen on the list, does that include Heretic as well? It's technically part of the same series, even though it's a pretty different game. (I personally like Hexen a lot more than Heretic)
Well, yeah, it includes Heretic, which is an awesome game. But the thing is, I find Heretic II an absolutely atrocious abomination. It's by far the worst thing Raven has ever done to the series. :barf I probably should have specified that in my post but the thought didn't occur to me :dopefish

For some reason, a lot of Hexen fans I've talked to (this is purely internet, of course ;) ) really don't like Hexen II, and say that Hexen was Raven's last good game. But I like Hexen II and I still like it :) It's full of unwarranted bugs (which is their main argument for why it's bad), but other than that it's a very fun game and a good sequel to the original, though there is a disappointing number of user-created maps compared to the original (I only found like, two), which was one of the big things that kept me playing Hexen for years after I already beat the main game :dead2

I have never played Hexen II, but I hated Heretic II. And so have most people I've talked to.

I guess this sums it up...in a vague order!
  • Monkey Island
  • Duke Nukem 3D
  • Little Big Adventure
  • Z
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Bioforge
  • Rayman
  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Commander Keen
  • Deus Ex
  • Perfect Dark
  • Starsiege: Tribes
  • Sensible Soccer
  • Worms
I think you can pretty much substitute Monkey Island for any of the great adventure games from the 80s/90s, same goes for the other games too.

Oooh, I found something other than Keen that we have in common. Most of the games here are my favorites too.

Favourite classic PC games, in no particular order...

Diablo II (Expansion)
Commander Keen (All except Dreams)
Roller Coaster Tycoon
Transport Tycoon (Deluxe)
The Incredible Machine
C&C: Tiberian Sun
Lemmings (All that I've played)
Monster Bash
Duke Nukem (not sure which number it is, 2D sidescrolling)
Chip's Challenge
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure
Skyroads
Tyrian
Nitemare 3D

Don't get me started on N64 games... and apart from N64 and PC there are a bunch of games for Gameboy, PS2, Wii that I'd have to find a way to include...

By the way does anyone know where I can get my hands on Monster Bash 2 & 3?

I'll post my welcome here MrBlack.
Awesome list although I liked tiberian sun least of all c&c games I played.
Glad to see titles like skyroads appreciated.

The only great game missing is worms (reinforcements & world party)

Ah thanks for the welcome and compliment on the list =]

Well for me, I only ever had Tiberian Sun. Never got to play another C&C until kind of recently actually, my brother got Red Alert 2 off a friend which was pretty fun. In defense of TS though, I had a mod tool for it which allowed me to customise/make my own everything basically. So I had a lot of fun with that.

Yeah Skyroads is great, glad to see someone else knows it, I think there are still two levels I was never was able to finish though. >.<

And I only ever had Worms: Armageddon on N64 (which would be on my list if N64 was included mind you). Didn't know another Worms game before it or after it strangely, which is unfortunate because I've heard plenty about the PC ones being great.

Another Skyroads fan here (me)! Glad to see you guys know it too. Although I heard about it relatively late, only a few years ago, so it wasn't exactly any childhood game to me. My dream is to create a level editor for the game, although it's still far far away and might not never get done.

Have you seen that web-based Skyroads clone? It has a map editor and you can submit it for other players, which is neat.
