Slavedriver - A Classic RTS on Kickstarter

Post by Paramultart »

Hey guys, my friends have been working on this RTS for the last few years; I am helping on it with the sprites and soundtrackl

Their goal is $15,000.... They have 43 days... These dudes grew up playing the same Apogee games that we did, and I feel they're keeping the spirit alive. Pledge what you can.

Thanks.

Is the cthulhu mythos involved?

So you're getting a chunk of $1,300 for your freelance artistry? :spot

It's interesting how much money goes for just the rewards. Might back this because it kind of reminds me of Dune 2 and early Command & Conquer. Also, I would probably have ignored this if it wasn't this thread.

Feels a bit awkward with pixel soldiers running around at a modern high framerate and just a tad inconsistent graphics-wise, such as the large map of Mars being hi-res.
Other than these two little quirks though, it looks pretty darn good! I can't pledge sadly, but I wish you guys the best of luck.

Am I the only one immediately thinking of Z?
Anyway the graphics still have it's flaws, yes, style consistency is not the strongest point in the game. The best thing to me seems to be the multi battles at once idea. Not the old one battle after another.

The 15,000 $ is a ridiculously low amount, 5K inhouse development cost is a joke and won't buy the devs bread for much more than a month, so I don't know how you want to go until Oct 2015 with so little money.

Other than that the project is interesting, I hope it succeeds.

I don't know what my cut will be yet. Depends how much work I do on it, I suppose.

Ditto

Sadly I again lament my lack of online payment methods... AND lack of money.

You guys take rolled up newspapers shoved into coats?

Not sure if I'd back this since RTS games are not my cup of tea (to me they feel like combining the worst elements of Chess and so-called "tycoon" games - in short it's a lot of waiting around for something to happen, needing to grind for more money to get something interesting, and then feeling stupid for getting your butt kicked).

I'm only tempted by the promise of a free digital download for $5, so I'd at least be getting what I paid for if it gets finished.
