The only keen related easter egg will probably be dopefish, but they probably more than likely will reference the original id software founders.

I think it'll probably be a generic, nothing-special shooter like the new Wolfenstein. It wasn't terrible, but only worth a quarter of what they ask for at retail price.
I'm not a fan of the monsters in those screenies. They all look the same, kind of fleshy and nondistinct. Cacodemons are meant to be colourful rainbow unicorns of horror!
Billions of blue blistering barnacles in a thousand thundering typhoons!

I've played and recorded Romero's new level. Based on my impressions while playing it's a great level, and there's certainly an article about it on BBC news as well. For those of you interested in the article, you can read it here:

For those of you who are playing it but stuck on the map, here's a video playthrough of it:

I thought the level was... average. I mean no disrespect to Romero, but if this was an anonymous map with no name on it, I wouldn't be able to tell it's by him. I'll say this... "average" is pretty darn good by doom map standards. Romero understands the importance of simplicity in map design. Too many mappers try to add too much stuff and make it too hard and/or superfluously cluttered. This is classic doom.
