I was skeptical but this is incredibly well done. It's like an updated Catacombs 3D.

Thankfully it has nothing to do with Catacombs 3D as it's an ZDoom MOD.

There already is OPL3 support for this.
Go to this post and follow the instructions in it.
Enjoy.

Indeed, I realise that. I mean that its atmosphere is along the lines of what I imagine Catacomb 3D might be like if adapted to a newer engine.

Thoughts of "what could have been" for HP come to mind. The side scroller was wonderful, and this is one of the best translations to 3D I have seen.
Keening_Product was defeated before the game.

Good news - This project is still alive and today it received an update!
Apparently whole episode 2 was finished, so there are two complete episodes to have fun with!

I was just playing it tonight. It's even better to play than to watch. The outdoor areas are impressive.

Had some major shading glitches with zdoom, but once I got gzdoom compiled and running it worked perfectly.

Presumably it is possible to run multiplayer games. We'll probably attempt it via the IRC channel sometime soon.

Soo it's good to mention here that the full (final) version has been released. If you haven't tired this out, now is a good time.
