Lemmings 3D is now editable, some new levels exist

Post by namida »

I recall there were some Lemmings fans in this community, so I thought I'd spread the news here just on the offchance anyone's interested - a Lemmings 3D level editor has recently been developed, at last.

EDIT: A bit late to add this here, but there's also an entire pack of custom levels out now (made by me): https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.php?topic=4368.0

On a side note for fans of the rest of the series: L1 and its spinoffs have of course been editable for a couple of decades, but Lemmings 2: The Tribes and Lemmings 3: The Chronicles (aka All New World Of Lemmings) are also editable these days, their respective editors having been out for a few years now.

(No news on editing Paintball, Lomax or Revolution yet. There isn't really enough interest in those three.)

I've played Lemmings 3D a bit back in the days, but it was frustrating (the gameplay and camera movement etc.). Still, I've managed to beat a couple of levels and I really enjoyed the music. I need to find this game to play it again, though I doubt I'll get to use to the gameplay.

There's a Lemmings 2 level editor? Now that sounds interesting. Lemmings 2 was my favorite of all the Lemmings.

Ugh. The Lemmings 2 level editors/things to download/install etc. are so confusing. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure it out. And by the look of it, I won't even bother trying further. Oh well. I was excited for a moment. Will check your 3D editor sometime in the future.

I'm not familiar with L2 (or L3, for that matter) editing myself, but I'm sure someone else will be able to help you if you ask. I'll ask around and see if anyone knows of a better topic to point you towards, for starters.

Apparently, LGL2 is the best Lemmings 2 editor:

Info here: https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.ph ... 9#msg31839 (I suggest also reading through the rest of the topic after that post, too)
Download in this topic: https://www.lemmingsforums.net/index.ph ... 3#msg56433

The person who pointed me towards this said that it should be used with geoo's L2Suite, pointing to LGL2 as the editor. As mentioned, I'm not the most familiar with L2 myself though, so I can't help you on how to do this - perhaps it'd be easier if you ask on the Lemmings Forums? There's plenty of people over there who are familiar with it, and several who have a strong obsession (and I mean that in a very good way) with documenting how to deal with any issues that people encounter.
