Discovering that it's freeware, I started playing biomenace a little bit a few days ago, and the idea came to me that this might be the time to kick off my Let's Playing career :dopefish

But camstudio seems to get all screwed up in the color palette when you try recording dosbox (or anything) in fullscreen mode. Does that mean I always have to play it windowed? Or is there some way around this problem so I can play fullscreen?

Also, is it possible to record the sound internally and record my voice instead of relying on the speaker to get the game sounds? Because I have to turn it up rather loud to register well, resulting in me needing to raise my voice a bit over the music.

Hmm. I've never been a fan of this game. I've played only the first level and I didn't get hooked. Even though it's a keen engine, it's far away from the Keen class. But who knows, I might give it a try again.

If your computer is good enough, run Audacity and DOSbox at the same time. Record audio on Audacity, which will record both the game music, and whatever is coming through the mic. And use the built-in DOSbox recorder.

Just record the gaming footage in DOSbox (ctrl-f5 or whatever you need to press to record a video). Then you'll have both the video and audio in perfect quality. Then just record whatever you want to say seperately (maybe while watching your footage) and use Windows Movie Maker or a "real" video editing program to include your comment voiceover.

This way, you'll even be able to lower the volume of the game soundtrack whenever you need to, so that your voiceover is still comprehensible.
Hail to the K1n9, baby!

I'd say that DOSBox + Audacity (as previously mentioned) is probably the way to go. Unless you're planning to add fancy titles or special effects to your videos, Windows Movie Maker (or equivalent) will do nicely to put the video together.

Be sure to let us know when the end product has been posted!

You could try changing the DOSBox renderer. There's opengl, directdraw, unaccelerated rendering etc. you can set up in the config file. Maybe the recording will look good when you record it that way.

Or record in DOSBox internally while simultaneously recording sound in a sound recorder...

I loved BioMenace as a kid, so seeing a let's play could bring some nostalgia!

Also, I know this one guy who goes by the name "roundthewheel" in youtube who made a great let's play (or a talkthrough, as he calls them) of Commander Keen IV & V. Might wanna check that out!

Not bad. You have an entertaining voice (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing! :p)

Just a few things I want to respond to:
-You don't have more posts than KeenRush. I checked after you mentioned it. 8)
- I'm pretty sure Keen is the only game to use white as the skin color. At least, I've never seen another game like that. So there wasn't really "two ways" to do it. Keen was an exception.
