Multilanguage support?

Post by szemi »

I want to ask whether if it's possible to have multilanguage support for Commander Genius.

My ideas: English, Deutsch, Hungarian, French, Spanish, Greek, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Chinese.

Of course, it depends on what nationality persons are here.

As translations in my opinion it would be like this for example:

Hungarian: Me (the most active hungarian one)
Nisaba, Tulip, gerstrong: Deutsch
English: basic
Greek: ?
French: ?
Italian: ?
Russian: ?
Japenese: There is somebody, who tried translating Keen to Japenese (?).
Spanish: ?
Chinese: Lingyan203

It should be worth, but I don't know if any of you can help. Myself I'm sure I would translate it to Hungarian.
Yeah, piece of cake!

Google translate does a good job.

Russian could be my thing, just too much afraid of the task...and busy with other stuff

Well, gerstrong must see it as this is an idea. So if it's possible, you can get into the Russian if you have spared time.
Yeah, piece of cake!

That'd be me. I could still do it provided it doesn't involve altering bitmaps.

Do we have all the required text as some doc file or something?
I could use google translate as a base and then fix it being native russian speaker...could translate it to hebrew as well.

But what will it be good for? Do you really have feedback of people having language barrier to play Keen?

P.S. Should "Commander Keen" be translated including the Keen word?

Well, nanomekia would do the translation to Japenese, you would do the Hebrew and Russian, I would do the Hungarian.

Question: Enthusiasm?

And as for your question, it'll be good for those people, who wants to play the game(s) in their native language (if they don't speak one). You know, more option.
Yeah, piece of cake!

^ this, this is precisely what I would need.

"Keen" would stay - that's his name - but "Commander" would likely be translated, I'd think.

Not really convinced of the idea, because it was never meant to be in other languages. Still though, if you have tranlastions I might see what can be done.

Well, we can do that but some other fonts are needed and support of Unicode and some translation tables...

Szemi, I don't know if you know this, but I do speak French as well since I live in Canada. Ottawa-Gatineau to be exact. Also, I don't know if you know this, but my YouTube channel has French content as well as English, even though Chinese is my nationality.
