Nice Icon for Commander Genius Release 0.3

Post by gerstrong »

Hi there,

we are looking for someone who wants help us with the design of the EXE-Icon of Commander Genius (aka CloneKeen Plus).

We have been fixing a lot of bugs in CKP, and we are really willing to release it.

But I think like ScummVM, CKP should also have an icon in which a Windows user could identify the game interpreter.

What do you think?

Of course that person who designs us one will be mentioned as any other person was in our project.

Sorry, for the delay of the release. A new member has been doing a lot of work improving the code, and we are trying to give you a decent release. Please don't get impacient. It will be great!

Okay, nobody seems to have an idea, so here goes mine:

Let's see what you think...

EDIT: Okay, here goes another try. Yes, the keenhead is not original, but I like it!

The outer glow: is it necessary to have some gradient effects? It could be just plain dark blue color. Otherwise make some gradient effects on the light blue color too.

Also, you may consider adding 3.0 in the icon, though it might not be that good idea. Or Keen's face as a background and the CG logo in front with transparency of at least 20 %.

Just make sure the icon is visible in small sizes as well.
Very small details can be stripped i think.

Perhaps i can have a go at it when i get home today.

Yep, it remembers me the time of 16x16 and 32x32 icons under Windows. Now they are bigger. They scale it only if necessary.

That image was done with Inkscape. If you want to help me creating the icon, I can send you the files. Just let me know you Email address (writing me) or a way in how to send it to you.

This is only an idea. You will have to get the artists permission.

I found the colourful artists drawing of keen on http://www.joystickdivision.com/2008/07 ... inners.php (scroll down to find the image) but I also found a vectored keen on http://jacobpease.deviantart.com/art/Co ... n-70249647.

Either way, that's my 2 pence.

Pretty cool! I really like it :drool

I already have included the old one into Pre9 of 0.3. Those who have the windows version and have download the most recent version will notice it. For the next time, I'm going to take your design (asking for permission, of course). It's pretty cool!

It's cool, but only in bigger res. At 48x48 it's worse. You can hardly recognize keen and you can't tell for sure what's the letter behind the G. Otherwise it's neat!

Okay here is my try. I tried to keep it retro coloured, still having a modern feel with the perspective letters.

Simple and slender details. That's how i like my icons :painted

Thinking about what Iv4n (wiivn) said I think he's right, and there are DSL's icons. They look good and legible in every size.

Very nice. Could the purple circle possibly be replaced with a yellow helmet? :)

I think it's rather awesome how people do things for each other like this on PCKF.
