Stupid References are stupid
Re: Stupid References are stupid
The first two of your image links appear to be dead....
ROFL @ Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure... it this some sort of lowlife bogus product à la "Commander Keen's Trek '96"?

That's strange, the images show up totally fine for me. They seem to be hosted on archive.shikadi.net. Maybe you have that domain blocked?
Good catches, Grandy02! That Cosmo one is very hilarious!
Anyway, I found a few references:
I once saw a bag of dog food with an expiration date of March 14! Maybe that's the kind of dog food Mortimer gives to his dog!
In Donkey Kong 64, the level Fungi Forest has tomato enemies that look just like the Tomatooths from Keen Dreams! They even hop after you! The only difference is that they are much bigger and have blue eyes.
In Pikmin 2, the enemy Pileated Snagret looks very similar to an enemy from Cosmo. Both have very similar methods of movement -- hopping!

Apparently the first 100,000 digits of pi contain 92 instances of 314 and 91 instances of 315! This proves that Keen was the smarter one all along! And that's not even counting 3.14!
The first 10,000,000 digits of pi are a little harder to quantify though.

does anyone remember a The Universe is Toast poster, with artwork by TooMuchSpareTime?

This is no mere stupid reference is stupid, this is neat! And if not previously posted, deserves a spot in fan art. In fact, I'd wear this on a T shirt

These are good "references", Keeners! Speaking of Keen references, I think might have a seen a few in Looney Tunes, or, should I say, possible inspirations for Commander Keen.
- Buckaroo Bugs has this guy named the Red Hot Ryder, who somewhat looks like Keen. I swore I saw him with freckles too, but strangely I don't see them when I looked at the images. He definitely doesn't have an IQ of 314, however!
https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SE7QVHHsU7w/ ... gs+(9).jpg - In Operation Rabbit there is a robot that looks awfully similar to a Sparky. Does Wile E. Coyote work for Vitacorp? Or the Shikadi?
https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CB28JjDdhJk/ ... 2B(50).jpg - Hare Lift has a scene featuring a Little Ampton-lookalike, although it looks more like a Big Ampton. This scene also appeared in Devil's Feud Cake.

Re: Stupid References are stupid
I think BBC got the wrong photos! That rocket looks nothing like the classic Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket; or is it a new model?
I found a couple references:
-I saw a license plate, part of which reads "XAX". I think we might have a visitor from Fribbulus Xax!
-In a Tom and Jerry cartoon, there's a blue dog character that was hindering the title duo and a gray mouse! He looks very similar to a Vorticon! One time, when Tom and Jerry were walking around, the dog was peeking out by a pole near the side of the screen, just like in the Keen 1 story screen! I forgot what the title of the cartoon was called -- I think it had "Napoleon" in the title.

Congratulations. That should be easy to remember!
I remember once being assigned to a hotel room 315, but only for like a minute because the room had to be changed for some reason.

Re: Stupid References are stupid
This is maybe more of a subjective experience remniscent of Keen. Rather than a full fledged stupid reference is stupid. But the David Bowie song "What In The World" from "Low" sounds like Keen is in there, endlessly being pushed around by yorps. What do you think?
