Just like you, there's been a few songs in particular that have resonated a lot with me during my hardships. I recently had a very deep and personal experience that pulled me out of a very dark place I found myself in for some time. During my struggles, and coming out of them, there's a few songs in particular that have really resonated with me through it all, and your post has inspired me to go into more detail about these particular tracks:

Far And Away by Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators: Pretty much since it all started in 2017, this song has been very relatable to my situation. It's a song about longing for someone, or something to come into your life, and holding out hope that someday they will.
Promise By Slash: I got Slash's solo album for Christmas in 2017, and during one of the darkest times in my life in 2018, I played this song a lot. I interpret it as a song about not letting the bad things in the world get to you, to persevere in your troubled times.
I Hold On by Slash: Just like Promise, I felt a very strong connection to this song during troubled times. The lyrics especially resonated with the situation I found myself in.
Gotten by Slash: Another song off of Slash's 2010 album, this one just has a mood that really gets to me.
Starlight by Slash: You may notice that all of the songs I've mentioned so far are from the same record. Well, in 2018 I was listening to this album a lot and developed a really deep attachment to it. This is my favorite song on the record, and it's also the signature track. The lyrics and mood just hit hard for me.
Sailing by Guns N' Roses: Though no studio version exists, Guns's cover of this Rod Stewart song just has a mood that just adds so much emotion to it. This song, I think, perfectly summarizes how I felt the whole time over the last 6 years.
If The World by Guns N' Roses: I know, I know, I listen to a lot of GN'R, but I really like this tune, and while the lyrics may not be all that complex, they do resonate with how I felt during the pandemic. I had a lot of hopes and dreams that were lost because of what happened, that I'm now finally starting to regain. It's one of the more eclectic and avant-garde tracks from Guns, but I love it and the lyrics were very relatable during lockdown:
If The World Would End Today
And All The Dreams We Had Would All Just Drift Away
You Know There's Nothing More To Say
If The World Would End
And Our Love Slipped Away
Madagascar by Guns N' Roses: Another eclectic Guns song, this one resonated with me a lot due to its lyrics, which, while not the most complex, relate to how I felt through everything I went through:
I Won't Be Told Anymore
That I've Been Brought Down In This Storm
And Left So Far Out From The Shore
That I Can't Find My Way Back
My Way Anymore
Worried Mind by Myles Kennedy: It seems like anytime Myles Kennedy releases a solo album, the songs on them are very relatable to what I'm going through at the time. The first one, Year Of The Tiger, came out in 2018, and is a concept album about when Myles's dad died when he chose not to seek medical treatment due to his religious beliefs, so the album deals with struggling with faith, and the loss of his dad. 2018 was the year of the tiger as well, and it's the year I lost my grandparents, so I felt a very strong connection to the album as soon as I heard it. The second one, The Ides Of March, came out in 2021, and was about everything going on in the world at the time, from the riots, to the pandemic, to the slough of misinformation we're bombarded with on a daily basis. It was also a message of hope, saying that it's not the end, and what was going on wouldn't last forever. This album, along with something special I got from one of my heroes, were both a ray of hope during a time when I was depressed, miserable, and resorting to alcohol to numb the pain.

After my experience a few weeks ago, I've been playing this particular track a lot. It's a song saying that as scary and hopeless as things may seem at times, as long as there's people in the world that remain steadfast and optimistic, it'll be OK. I plan to write about this experience in more detail in the Life Updates Thread in the near future, but for now let's just say that some new friends of mine pulled me out of that depressed state I was in, and gave me the consolation and reassurance I needed during my struggles. Because of this experience, I have a newfound hope that this song perfectly portrays.
"Remember to be happy, keep smiling, and have hope, and know that there's sunshine everywhere. Just look around, and you'll find it."

There is a song(s) I've been addicted to listening to over the past few days. You guys have probably figured out that I'm a huge fan of Guns N' Roses, and I have an extensive collection of unreleased songs from them. Well, there's one track that fans have desired above all others for years, and we finally have it: THE GENERAL!

To give you some context on what happened: The General was supposed to be included with a vinyl release of another song the band released recently called Perhaps, but unsurprisingly the vinyl release was delayed, causing the fanbase to have an absolute meltdown. On the 27th, we got the song anyway when the track leaked on a GN'R forum. I downloaded the song as soon as I could, and I think it's a good song, but I certainly didn't buy into the hype that the fans gave it for years. It is easily one of the heaviest and darkest tracks ever released by Guns. I love it! I've been listening to it practically nonstop since I got my hands on it, and it's certainly got a more avant-garde sound to it, which, I'm into a lot of eclectic music, so this is right up my alley.

While the lyrics aren't as complex as I thought they'd be, there's some in the song that really resonate with me, even if it doesn't relate to their context in the song:
Can Anybody Tell Me
Why This Pain, It Just Won't Stop
Can Anybody Help Me
This Pain, It Just Won't Stop

My Only Regret
Is That I Never Took The Time To Forgive
All Those Unspoken Feelings
That Were Never Spared
The More I Did, What I Did, I Did For You
There's No Excuses For The Hell On Earth You Put Me Through
I Never Cared How Much I Cared, When I Cared For You
To Make You Better There Was Nothin' That I Wouldn't Do
I Doubt There's Anybody Left That Wants To Know The Truth
The Dirty Secret That You Hid Away Inside Of You
Who Ever Thought I'd Be Around To Shed A Light On You
Well Here's The Story, Baby, I Got Nothin' Else To Do
EDIT: Turns out I actually acquired 2 separate songs here. The other is called Monsters. They were just combined together in the audio file I found. Good song, though.

Two local bands dominating my listening hours rn:

Bughunt, an anxiety-ridden punk band (here's a gallery and review of mine from a recent-ish show)
Checkpoint, which has a quirky prog new wave sound (one-person project (live band has more folk, ofc) which, while Melbourne-based, is signed to a German label - Vinyl ships from Europe if any of you over there become big fans)

I've been listening to a lot of 4lung, Judas Priest and Fall Out Boy lately.

Currently I'm listening to a MIDI version of King Crimson's "Three of a Perfect Pair".

Although I don't participate in frenzied materialism for Black Friday, my one tradition attached to this day is to listen to Megadeth's extremely violent "Good Mourning/Black Friday".

I haven't listened to Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? for quite a long time. I should give it a listen soon. Last Megadeth track I listened to was the re-recorded version of A Tout Le Monde Dave collaborated with Cristina Scabbia.
